Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has acknowledged the serious challenges facing football in Ghana.
In a meeting with Ghana Premier League Match Commissioners on Tuesday, the FA capo emphasized the need for honesty, accountability, and a collective response to address the concerns of football fans.
The main objective of the meeting was to improve matchday safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of players, officials, and fans.
This comes after the tragic death of Francis ‘Nana Pooley’ Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during a match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.
“We’ll be very fair in assessing your work. Be honest. Those who fall below the line, unfortunately, will leave us. When you hear the public discourse, you realize all is not well. If we have the chance to fix it, this is the time.
“Ghanaians are calling for change, and we must respond positively as a football family. Hopefully, the Premier League will resume soon, but when it does, we must ensure the changes our stakeholders demand are implemented,” Okraku stated.
Due to the incident in Nsoatre, the Ghana Premier League is on hold, with the resumption date yet to be determined.
