Mohammed Kudus scored and dedicated the goal in memory of his late compatriot Christian Atsu as resurgent Ajax defeated Sparta Rotterdam 4-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.

Only six minutes after kickoff, Dusan Tadic scored the first goal thanks to a pass from Davy Klaassen.

Tadic then turned provider in the 27th minute as Kenneth Taylor netted a second.

At the hour mark, Ajax were awarded a penalty for a foul on Steven Bergwijn, and Tadic converted to make it 3-0 for the hosts.

The victory was sealed when Kudus scored a fourth from a free-kick in the 84th minute.

Kudus’ celebration was dedicated to the late Christian Atsu, whose death was officially confirmed last Saturday following an earthquake in Turkey about a fortnight ago.

The comfortable victory means Ajax climb into second with 46 points after 22 matches.
