Asante Kotoko management has called for an emergency meeting with the club’s technical team, led by head coach Abdul Karim Zito, following the team’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors were knocked out in the Round of 16 after suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Aduana FC. The tie ended in a pulsating goalless draw after regulation time at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday before Aduana prevailed from the spot to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), chaired by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, has consequently summoned the technical handlers to a crucial meeting scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2026, to deliberate on the club’s early exit from the competition and the team’s inconsistent performances this season.
Prior to the FA Cup fixture, the IMC chairman had issued a stern warning to the playing body, cautioning that significant changes could be made should the club fail to secure victories against Aduana FC and rivals Hearts of Oak.
Management, clearly dissatisfied with recent results, are expected to take key decisions following the emergency meeting.
Kotoko have now endured back-to-back defeats, having previously fallen 3–1 to Heart of Lions in their Week 21 Ghana Premier League encounter.
With their FA Cup campaign now over, the Reds will turn their focus to the highly anticipated Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, slated for Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Baba Yara Stadium
