Asante Kotoko’s players and technical team were treated to a special dinner on Monday night, following their dramatic MTN FA Cup final victory over Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors clinched their 10th FA Cup title on Sunday with a tense 2-1 win, sealed by a last-minute penalty from forward Kwame Opoku.

Kotoko took the lead in the 17th minute when Opoku finished off a slick move initiated by Lord Amoah’s driving run and expertly delivered set-piece.

But Golden Kick, the underdogs from the lower divisions, refused to fold. They struck back in the 32nd minute through a stunning Bless Ege free-kick that brought the final level.

The second half saw chances at both ends, with Golden Kick nearly capitalising on a Kotoko defensive error. However, the introduction of Emmanuel Antwi helped stabilize Kotoko’s midfield and push the team forward.

Amidu Acquah squandered a golden opportunity in the 84th minute, but the decisive moment came just before full-time. Kwame Opoku was brought down in a contested challenge with Golden Kick goalkeeper Kelvin Saaba, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Opoku kept his composure and converted, sending the Kotoko fans into raptures.

To mark the club’s success, management organised a celebratory dinner for the squad and technical staff; a gesture to honour their hard-fought achievement and end to the season with silverware.

With the FA Cup title secured, Asante Kotoko will now represent Ghana in the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup.
