Following the loan departure of record-signing Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea’s second-most-expensive signing could also be set for a loan spell away from London, with Kepa Arizzabalaga revealing that he needs to be playing more football than he managed last season.
The Spaniard, who joined Chelsea for a then-record £72m in 2018, has lost his place in between the posts for both the Blues and Spain during his time in west London, and only managed four Premier League appearances last campaign.
And, speaking to the Spanish media, he suggested that he would be open to a loan move away from Stamford Bridge this summer. Asked about whether he would rule out a spell away from Chelsea, the 27-year-old made use of the opportunity to call for more regular game-time.
‘Right now I am a Chelsea player, but what I am clear about is that I want to play more, because I come from a year or two where, when I have played, I have had a great performance’, he explained.

‘I am not desperate. In the end, I’m at a great club… I’ll talk to the coach and we’ll decide, but with the clear message that I want to play more’, the Spaniard added.
Kepa slams Lampard’s tactics
Meanwhile, Kepa has also highlighted the difference between the demands placed on him by Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel, claiming that the German manager’s tactics are far more advanced than the now Everton boss.
‘We came from a not so elaborate game [with Lampard], we didn’t have to take the ball from behind, a less planned game, more to the free expression of the player, back and forth and less control’, he told Marca.
‘With Tuchel we have returned to control. It is true that in the Premier we were not close to the top two, but in the other tournaments we have been very competitive’, Kepa added.
