Ashanti Regional Circles Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Alex Manu, has opened up on the departure of Abdul Karim Zito, admitting the development has left the club shaken.
Zito officially resigned on Monday, February 9, shortly after Kotoko’s FA Cup elimination at the hands of Aduana FC.
His exit brings to a close a spell that once showed real promise but later became clouded by uneven performances.
Manu, in an interview with Citi Sports, acknowledged the emotional weight of the coach’s decision on the club’s faithful.
“It’s very painful. You know, the club has been going through a lot of difficult times. We hardly raised three to four consecutive games.
“It has been ups and downs. Before, we were thinking behind the box, how to find the actual problem that is facing the team.
“But, you know, the coach has acted professionally. That’s what I would say. The coach has acted very professionally.”
Kotoko now turn their attention to stabilising the squad as they attempt to steady their campaign in the weeks ahead.
Up next for the Porcupine Warriors is against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on February 15.
