Karela United deepened Hearts of Oak’s struggles with a deserved 2–0 win at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, inspired by a brilliant brace from Eric Antwi.
Buoyed by their recent draw with Heart of Lions, Karela started brightly and were rewarded in the 18th minute when Fatew Mohammed’s fine cross was headed home by Antwi.
Hearts of Oak tried to respond through Hamza Issah, but their efforts lacked precision. Just before halftime, Antwi pounced on a goalkeeping error to score again, sending the hosts into the break with a two-goal cushion.
Hearts pushed harder after the restart but failed to find a breakthrough, with Issah once again going close. Karela stayed compact and disciplined, limiting the Phobians to half chances and seeing out the result professionally.
The win lifts Karela United to 7th on the table with 20 points, just a point behind Hearts of Oak in 6th. Hearts have now recorded just one win in their last five matches.
