Juventus need Memphis Depay to renew with Barca to sign him –

Memphis Depay‘s departure from Barcelona is slow cooking. The Dutch forward has important offers and it’s likely that next week white smoke will appear to signal his departure. Barça and Juventus are negotiating a deal but it needs the collaboration of the player for everything to end up in the right place. Memphis would have to renew his Barcelona contract by one year for them to let him go on loan to Juventus.

The Italian side are showing a lot of interest in Memphis, but the problem is that they don’t have the cash to take on a transfer this summer. There are good relationships between the two clubs and they’re discussing a loan move, as long as the player signs on for one more year and the loan contains an obligatory option to buy. Barcelona would then make sure they get a transfer fee for next season of around €20 million.

Barcelona and Juventus want to seal the deal but Memphis is not so sure. The player would like to stay at his current club, convinced that he’ll end up getting a chance, even though the club have told him that he should leave. It’s likely that a direct conversation with Xavi will be what needs to happen to make it clear to him that he needs to go for everyone’s benefit. Memphis, when he arrived at Barcelona made a big economic effort. He came on a free and took a highly reduced salary to help the club in their moments of need.

However he needs to play to be able to be in good condition for the Netherlands at the Qatar World Cup. But there is an overbooking of strikers in attack, given the signings and Ousmane Dembele’s renewal, and they need his spot free.
