Joyce Annor Yeboah, widely recognized in the media space as Afia Empress, has taken a significant step in her football journey.
The former player turned journalist and coach has been appointed Deputy General Manager of Juventus Academy Ghana, SMAC SC, and the SMAC Sports Center.
Joyce’s path through football has been anything but conventional. After an early end to her playing career due to health complications, she pivoted into sports journalism; quickly establishing herself as a strong voice on Angel FM’s sports team.
Even while studying Public Relations at UniMAC-IJ (University of Media Arts and Communication), her passion for the game never faded.
She earned her CAF License D coaching badge from the Ghana Football Association and later took charge of Thunder Queens during the 2022/23 season. In January 2025, she built on her coaching foundation by completing the CAF License C course.
After contributing to Juventus Academy Ghana over the past two seasons in various roles, Joyce has now been elevated to a leadership position within the academy’s management team.
“Football has always been at the heart of everything I do,” Joyce shared. “This opportunity allows me to keep building, this time from the administrative front. I’m committed to developing talent and giving back to the game that’s shaped me.”
In her new role, Joyce is expected to focus on long-term player development strategies and create programs that nurture young athletes; especially young girls across Ghana and beyond.
