LA Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil is optimistic that the Black Stars have the quality to advance from the group stage of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, four-time African champions, booked their place on football’s biggest stage for the fifth time despite missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, with the tournament set to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
“ We have good players and a strong chance of qualifying for the next round if we perform well. It all depends on the players and management coming together as a team to deliver for the country,” Paintsil told Citi Sports.
He added, “Sometimes you don’t have to talk about it; you have to know this is the job we have to do. We have to give everything for Ghanaians and for the badge.”
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England on June 23 in Boston, and wrap up the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
