Jordan Ayew missed the first penalty of his club career as Leicester City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic at King Power Stadium.

The Ghanaian forward had the chance to level the game in the 56th minute but saw his spot-kick hit the post.

Leicester had been reduced to 10 men after Caleb Okoli’s early red card, making it tough for them to mount a comeback.

Charlton took advantage of the numerical superiority, scoring through Sonny Carey in the 36th minute and Lyndon Dykes in the 49th minute.

Ayew’s miss was a crucial moment, denying Leicester a lifeline.

The result highlights Leicester’s defensive struggles, having conceded 43 goals in the Championship.

Leicester are now 16th with 38 points.
