Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has set an audacious target of captaining the Black Stars in future.

The 24-year-old, who plays for French side Evian, was a member Ghana’s disastrous 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil.

The strong centre-back has been an integral member of the Black Stars squad over the last couple of years and expected to play a key role for the French side this season.

In answering a question from his fans on Twitter, the former Udinese and Granada defender, says it would be an honour to captain the African giants in future.

“@lambertcato: @jomens25 would u like to be captain of the national side in the near future? #Askjomens” Who wouldn’t? It would be an honour

Mensah’s quality has never been in doubt but it’s not clear if he has leadership qualities.

Excellent player in the air, he will play a crucial role for the Black Stars ahead of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
