Wolfsburg have signalled strong confidence in Jonas Adjetey following his arrival from FC Basel.
The Black Stars defender was snapped up on deadline day, committing his future to the Bundesliga club with a four-year contract.
Club executives believe the Ghanaian comes in ready-made, not as a long-term project.
Wolfsburg’s Sporting Director Pirmin Schwegler was equally emphatic, stating, “We have high hopes for Jonas [Adjetey] and are convinced that he will strengthen our team immediately.”
The move ends Adjetey’s stay in Switzerland, where he featured regularly and built a solid reputation across 58 competitive matches.
His signing is seen as a direct response to defensive frailties that have left Wolfsburg exposed throughout the campaign.
Injuries to Konstantinos Koulierakis and Denis Vavro have further stretched the club’s options at the back.
Jenson Seelt remains unavailable with a knee problem, while Cleiton is also sidelined after picking up an ankle injury.
To steady the ship, Wolfsburg reinforced their defence on deadline day by adding Adjetey permanently and bringing in Jeanuël Belocian on loan.
