Wolverhampton midfielder Joao Moutinho is set to leave the club after talks over a new contract broke down on Wednesday.
Moutinho has just one year left on his current deal with Wolves and talks of extending his stay have hit the wall. The Portuguese wants a two-year contract and will now assess his other options as reported by Daily Mail.
The 35-year-old remains an important player for Portugal and will be part of Fernando Santos’ squad for this year’s World Cup.
Moutinho joined Wolves for about £ 5 million from Monaco in 2018.
Wolves have a one year deal on offer for Joao Moutinho. The player would ideally like a longer contract and has been exploring options.
Wolves want him to stay but as it stands it is ‘unlikely’.
