Joao Felix has joined Al Nassr’s training camp in Lisbon, but captain Cristiano Ronaldo remains absent from the Saudi club’s preparations for the new season.
Al Nassr published images of Felix arriving at the camp in the Portuguese capital, where he greeted the players and members of the coaching staff led by new Australian manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Portugal international is the latest Al Nassr player to link up with the club’s overseas camp, following the arrival of Senegal forward Sadio Mane on Friday evening.
Ronaldo is now the only Al Nassr player yet to report to the squad in Portugal.
According to Saudi media reports, the 41-year-old will not join the camp in Lisbon. Instead, he is expected to wait until the team returns to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, before taking part in training.
Al Nassr’s camp in Lisbon is scheduled to finish on 5 August. That means the club are not expected to resume training in Riyadh until at least a week later, with the players likely to be given a short period of rest after returning from Portugal.
Ronaldo has been missing since the camp began on 19 July, having represented Portugal at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The forward was expected to return to Al Nassr training once the 21-day period allowed under the regulations had elapsed. That period began after Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the last 16 of the World Cup on 6 July.
However, Ronaldo has not returned to the squad in Lisbon.
Reports in Saudi Arabia say the player, known as the “Madeira Rocket”, will instead begin working with Al Nassr when the club’s preparations continue in Riyadh.
Al Nassr will begin the new season in about two weeks, with their opening match scheduled for 15 August against Al Fateh in the first round of the Roshn Saudi League.
Felix’s arrival adds to the group available to Postecoglou as the former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic manager oversees his first preparations with the club. The Portuguese forward completed his arrival after Mane had linked up with the squad, leaving Ronaldo as the only outstanding member of the team yet to join the camp.
The Lisbon base has therefore continued without Al Nassr’s captain, despite the expectation that he would return following Portugal’s World Cup campaign. With the club’s first league fixture approaching, the focus will now turn to Ronaldo’s eventual return in Riyadh and the short period available for him to prepare before the opening match.
