Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is looking to improve his backroom staff by adding Manchester United’s Chris Armas to the team, according to reports.
Armas joined Man United with interim boss Ralf Rangnick, and has apparently impressed the American coach during his short spell. With Rangnick making way for Erik Ten Hag at the end of the campaign, it is likely that Man Utd will be making changes to their own backroom staff. However, it seems Armas may now face an alternative option to keep a job inside the Premier League.
Reported by The Athletic, Marsch is keen on the Man United figure joining his side for the 2022/23 season.
When Marsch took over from Marcelo Bielsa in February, he recruited internally for members of staff.
Loan manager Andrew Taylor and Under-23’s head coach Mark Jackson were assigned first-team coaching roles. However, the report states that Jackson is expected to return to his Under-23’s role, opening up a spot.
While Marsch has enjoyed working alongside Jackson, it is believed that Leeds are keen to revitalize their youth squads.
This has then turned the former RB Leipzig boss’ attention to Armas.
Currently assistant to Rangnick at Old Trafford, Armas has had a difficult few months, with his side facing a lot of criticism.
However, an opportunity to once again work with Marsch could prove a smart career move.

Marsch and Armas were long-time teammates inside the MLS. The pair played alongside each other for Chicago Fire between 1998-2005.
Armas went on to become assistant coach at the club when he retired in 2008. Marsch, however, did not begin managing until 2011 with Montreal Impact.
The duo were then reunited in 2015, with Armas becoming assistant manager to Marsch at New York Red Bulls.
After a successful three years, Armas replaced Marsch as head coach, with the latter moving on to Red Bull Salzburg.
Given their history and experience together, it would make sense for Armas to join his former teammate in Leeds.
And with Ten Hag expected to make big changes upon his arrival, it is likely Armas will be free to join in time for pre-season.
