Swiss coach Nora Häuptle has described her time with the Black Queens of Ghana as a rewarding experience, following her departure after nearly two years in charge.
Appointed in January 2023, Häuptle replaced Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo and guided Ghana to qualify for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time since 2018. However, she narrowly missed out on securing Olympic qualification.
Speaking to CAFOnline, the 41-year-old reflected positively on her tenure.
“Yes, it’ll be my very first WAFCON, my first major tournament on the continent. With Ghana, I had qualified the team after three years of work. That was a great journey,” she said.
Following the end of her contract, Häuptle opted not to renew and has since taken over as head coach of Zambia’s Copper Queens.
“Now I have the pleasure of participating with Zambia. For me, it’s a kind of fulfilment,” she added.
“We’ve invested so much into this team with so much passion. In Zambia, we all share one vision: to bring a trophy home. That’s a huge motivation for me.”
Häuptle will now lead Zambia into WAFCON 2024, bringing her continental experience to a new chapter in her coaching career.
