Injury woes mount for Anderlecht as Ghanaian winger Francis Amuzu faces prolonged sideline spell

Anderlecht’s hopes for a seamless campaign have been dealt a severe blow as their pacey Ghanaian winger, Francis Amuzu, is set to undergo surgery, rendering him unavailable for an extended period.

The 24-year-old, born in Ghana but representing Belgium, has battled persistent pubalgia throughout the season, culminating in the decision to go under the knife.

Anderlecht’s head coach, Brian Riemer, broke the unfortunate news to the media in Belgium, expressing his anticipation that Amuzu would be sidelined for several months. Despite the team’s attempts to manage the winger’s condition by providing regular rests, the persistent nature of the injury has left surgery as the only viable option.

Amuzu’s struggle with pubalgia has been a season-long saga, prompting Anderlecht to strategically rest him in the hope of a resolution. However, these efforts have proven futile, forcing the winger to take a hiatus from the field.

The 24-year-old’s absence is a significant setback for Anderlecht, given his pivotal role in the squad. Amuzu’s professional journey with the team began in spectacular fashion, marking his debut with a game-winning goal against K.A.S. Eupen in December 2017. He has been a crucial contributor, amassing three goals in 12 appearances in the current Belgian First Division A season.
