FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Ghana and its passionate supporters following the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a video message released after Ghana’s 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, Infantino applauded both the team and their fans for the energy and colour they bring to global football.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history. Your fans will bring colours, style, and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026 in Canada, Mexico, and the United States,” Infantino said.

He praised Ghana’s supporters for their unmatched vibrancy and for creating electric atmospheres at tournaments, noting that their spirit has long enriched the World Cup experience.

The FIFA boss also expressed hope that the Black Stars could replicate their iconic 2010 run in South Africa, when Ghana reached the quarter-finals and came within a whisker of a historic semi-final berth.

“We expect your team will produce more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous 2010 squad. For now, enjoy this special moment ; we can’t wait to see who the Black Stars will face at the draw on December 5,” he added.

Ghana’s qualification marks their fifth World Cup appearance after previous campaigns in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. The draw for the 2026 tournament will be held on December 5 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
