St Gallen manager Peter Zeidler has confirmed Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi will start the Swiss Cup final from the bench despite his recent run of form.
Ati-Zigi has been in fantastic form for the Green and Whites in the Swiss topflight league but Peter Zeidler will start the final with second choice goalkeeper Lukas Watkowiak.
Per the arrangement at the club, the Ghana international keeps the post in league games with Watkowiak features in the Swiss.
“We agreed on that before the season. And that’s not being shaken, there are no discussions,” says Zeidler
According to Peter Zeidler, there is healthy competition between the two goalkeepers contrary to reports that Zigi is unhappy starting from the bench.
“No, absolutely not. We have two great goalkeepers. Lukas held up brilliantly in the semifinals in Yverdon. And Zigi ran onto the field after the game and hugged Lukas. He may treat him to these missions.”
Ati-Zigi kept the post over the weekend as St Gallen thrashed Lugano 3-0, making three incredible saves.
This season, the Ghana goalie has made 31 appearances and kept six clean sheets.
