“I’m satisfied and I’m grateful to God – Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus on scoring first UCL goal

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus is pleased to score his first UEFA Champions League goal for Ajax in their 4-0 win over Rangers on match day one at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

With the hosts leading by two goals against the Scottish Premiership side, the 22-year-old added a third in the goal-laden first half.

Kudus had earlier assisted Steven Berghuis for the hosts’ second goal of the evening.

“I’m satisfied and I’m grateful to God. We all know what happened in my first Champions League game against Liverpool (Kudus suffered a serious injury, ed.),” Kudus, who was named Man of the Match said.

“I’m glad it was a lot more positive today. The most important thing is that we won.”

Kudus lasted for 89th minute before being replaced by Brian Brobbey.

The win lifts Ajax to the summit of Group A, with Napoli second after thrashing Liverpool 4-1.

Ajax will travel to England to take on Liverpool at Anfield on match day two.
