Emmanuel Gyamfi says he is ready to deliver wherever needed after completing a four-year move to Aberdeen from Bundesliga 2 side Schalke 04, becoming the club’s third summer signing.
The 20-year-old German youth international, who spent last season on loan at VVV-Venlo, was unveiled on June 6, 2025, as the Dons look to build on their Scottish Cup triumph and bolster their squad ahead of European football.
Gyamfi featured 31 times for Venlo in the Dutch Eerste Divisie and now joins manager Jimmy Thelin’s side as a dynamic full-back capable of impacting both ends of the pitch.
“I’m comfortable to play on the left or right. I can play as a winger or a full-back on both sides,” Gyamfi told club media. “That flexibility is something I’m proud of and I hope to help the team in any way I can.”
Motivated by Cup Glory and European Dreams
Gyamfi was inspired by Aberdeen’s recent success, particularly the club’s Scottish Cup victory.
“It was nice to see all the fan celebrations after winning the cup. It motivates me to want to do it again as you can see how much they love Aberdeen,” he said.
He added that playing in European competition was a key motivation:
“Obviously it’s a dream to play in Europe, on that stage. It can be challenging, but we are going to be ready as a team after a strong pre-season.”
Ready for the Challenge
Gyamfi expressed confidence in his physical and mental preparedness for Scottish football’s intensity:
“Now that everything is sorted, I can focus on pre-season. I’m going to work hard before training starts. I will give my best to help the team and show the fans what I can do.”
