Arsenal legend Ian Wright has questioned the decision of England manager, Gareth Southgate to not invite teenager Kobbie Mainoo to England’s squad for their March international break matches.

The 18-year-old English-born Ghanaian was impressive for Man United as they edged Liverpool 4-3 in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup, therefore reigniting calls for him to be part of the senior England squad.

There were also reports the Ghana Football Association is in talks with the youngster of the possibility of representing the Black Stars over the Three Lions.

Speaking ain a video he posted on social media after the Man United game against Liverpool, Wright said Kobbie Mainoo should have been in the England squad.

“How’s Kobbie Mainoo not in that squad. Roy [Keane], how’s Kobbie Mainoo not in that squad. Come on, man. Come on, eh? The man was immense today.”

Kobbie Mainoo has been named in the England U21s squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers.
