Ghana and Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has revealed his admiration for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, insisting he wants to play like him.
Thiago, who joined the Reds from Bayern Munich, came with plenty of pedigree but coronavirus and a knee injury meant Liverpool fans didn’t get to see him experience a run of games until the second half of the 2020/21 season.
However, the 31-year-old has since proved the doubters wrong and is now one of Liverpool’s most important players.
Kudus, who got on the scoresheet in his side’s Champions League group stage defeat by Liverpool says he idolises the Spain international.
“That was fantastic. The shirt is hanging at my house and I am very proud of it,” said the 22-year-old who enjoys Thiago’s style of football.
“Sometimes he plays on ‘six’ but then, despite his defensive duties, he doesn’t lose his creativity. It doesn’t matter where he plays, he always finds the balance between defense and attack. That’s how I want to play.”
