Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has made his ambitions clear, declaring his desire to play a decisive role for the Black Stars rather than settle for a peripheral place in the national team.
The 25-year-old made his Ghana debut in October 2024 and has since earned seven caps, scoring once. Despite his growing experience, Thomas-Asante is yet to cement a regular starting role at international level.
Speaking to the PFA, the former West Bromwich Albion attacker said his focus is on contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s success.
“For me, I want to be successful with the Black Stars,” he said. “I don’t just want to be a squad player; I want to score goals, provide assists and help this nation win trophies. The expectations are high, and we’re ready to meet them.”
Thomas-Asante’s confidence is backed by his club form, having enjoyed a prolific season with Coventry City, where he has scored 10 goals and registered three assists in 17 appearances.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico the striker is aiming to force his way into Ghana’s plans. Currently sidelined through injury, Thomas-Asante is targeting a strong return to action as he pushes to secure a place in the Black Stars squad for the global showpiece.
