Hull City have signed Germany-Ghana centre-forward Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin for €17m, bringing the 21-year-old striker to the Premier League club on a contract running until 30 June 2031.
Ansah, who was born in Ludenscheid, Germany, completed the move on 1 September 2026. The 1.97m forward is right-footed and joins Hull after one season with Union, who signed him from SC Paderborn in July 2025 for €4m.
The striker made one appearance for Union in the 2026-27 DFB-Pokal before moving to England, playing the full 90 minutes in the competition. He had not appeared in the Bundesliga during the campaign.
Ansah began his senior career with Paderborn, joining the club from its under-19 side in July 2023. He had previously spent time in the youth systems of Sportfreunde Siegen, Eintracht Dortmund and VfL Bochum.
His move to Hull represents a significant increase on Union Berlin’s initial outlay, with the English club paying €17m to secure his services. Ansah’s market value was recorded at €12m before the transfer.
Hull have agreed a deal that keeps Ansah at the club for nearly five years, with his contract due to expire at the end of June 2031. He becomes part of the club’s squad as a centre-forward following his switch from Germany’s Bundesliga.
The transfer was completed on 1 September, with Ansah leaving Union Berlin after one season and joining Hull City.
