Basake Holy Stars produced one of their best performances of the season on Wednesday, beating Asante Kotoko 2-1 in their outstanding Week 3 Ghana Premier League fixture.
After a tight first half where both sides created chances but failed to score, the game burst into life just four minutes after the restart. Richmond Somiah fired home to give Holy Stars a deserved lead.
Their advantage, however, lasted only four minutes. Kotoko striker Kwame Poku quickly equalised in the 53rd minute, shifting momentum towards the Porcupine Warriors as they pushed for a winner.
Kotoko dominated the latter stages but failed to break down a resilient Holy Stars side. And deep into stoppage time, the hosts delivered the decisive blow — Prince Tweneboah finishing a late move to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory.
The win moves Holy Stars to 10 points as they edge closer to escaping the relegation zone, while Kotoko miss a golden chance to go top of the league table.
