Hoffenheim pull out of Alexander Djiku deal over agent commission

Ghana defender Alexander Djiku is no longer joining TSG Hoffenheim following a decision by the German club to withdraw from the deal.

L’Équipe reports that the Bundesliga outfit pulled out due to a last-minute rise in his agent’s commission demands.

Hoffenheim struck a transfer agreement to pay French Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg a €6 million fee in exchange for the economic rights of the centre-back.

Djiku went on to undergo a mandatory medical Wednesday afternoon which went successful.

However, his agent, who is also his brother, intervened just as the transfer was to be completed and asked for his fee to be raised, which saw Hoffenheim call off the deal.

With Strasbourg club president Marc Keller having agreed to sell Djiku this transfer window, he will now have to find another destination.

The former Caen man has one year left on his current deal.

Alexander Djiku has been the subject of interest from clubs around Europe this summer, including Sevilla and Rennes, after an impressive 2021/22 season that saw him appear 31 times in the league as the Alsatians finished 6th in the Ligue 1.
