History-maker Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first player to score in five straight World Cup tournaments —

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player in history to score at five straight FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The five-time Ballon D’or winner opened the scoring for Les Selecao A after he converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu fouled him inside the box and American referee Ismail Elfath signalled for a penalty.

And, Ronaldo who has recently been released by Manchester United elected himself to plant the ball firmly beyond Lawrence Ati Zigi in the Ghana goalpost.

Prior to the 2022 edition of the tournament, Ronaldo had scored in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 editions.

Ronaldo is also the oldest striker playing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
