Heung-min Son’s father suggests Tottenham star needs transfer to become world class

Heung-min Son’s father has suggested that the South Korean may need to leave Tottenham to become a world-class player.

Son, 29, has been one of Spurs’ best players for the last five or so years and, in 2021/22, had his best season in north London.

The winger would net 23 and assist nine in 35 Premier League outings, winning the Golden Boot and playing a key role in Spurs securing Champions League football in the process.

Now though, Son Woong-jung, father of Son, has been speaking about the Tottenham star and suggested he must work harder and make more progress:

“He must work harder and make more progress. If he is satisfied with what he has achieved now, crisis is on the way. He must always try to do better to stay in the best form, don’t you think? Instead of being happy to stay where he is, I always want him to be 10 percent better.”

Woong-jung then seemed to suggest that Son needs to leave Tottenham to become a world class player: “He [Son] must be able to play a solid role in one of the world’s top clubs. That’s when he will become a world class player.”

He went on to say of Son’s form: “He scored a lot of goals this year, but it doesn’t mean he will do the same next year.

“Only those who stay ready can survive the difficulties. He must face everything with a cautious mind and can’t afford to be too proud.”

Son is under contract with Tottenham until 2025 and given Daniel Levy’s negotiating tactics, it is hard to see him leaving Spurs anytime soon.
