Newly-appointed Fenerbahce head coach Jorge Jesus has spoken out over the future of Mesut Ozil with the club.
And the news will no doubt come as a hammer blow to those hopeful of seeing the gifted midfield enigma line out in the famed colours of Fener once more.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Jesus, appointed as the new man in charge at the The Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, was drawn on his plans when it comes to Ozil’s presence in his squad.
This comes with the one-time German international still under contract with Fenerbahce, but having been banished to the stands under the club’s former interim boss owing to a heated disagreement over his fitness levels.

Jesus, though, is evidently not prepared to wipe the slate clean.
Instead, the Portuguese has confirmed that Ozil will remain exiled through the summer and beyond, having already been forced to face up to ‘the end of his era’ in Istanbul:
‘He had his time, his space,’ Jesus began.
‘He has a beautiful history in Turkey, nobody can take it away from him.
‘He is a well-known player around the world. But I will follow exactly what was the end of the Ozil era.
