Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has accepted his side’s narrow defeat to Aduana FC, commending the Dormaa club for their resilient defensive performance in Friday’s Week 14 Ghana Premier League clash.
Lions dominated large spells of the encounter at the Kpando Sports Stadium, but a 51st-minute effort from Patrick Mensah proved decisive as Aduana held firm for a 1-0 victory — ending Lions’ unbeaten home run this season.
Reflecting on the result, Hayford admitted his side did all they could but were denied by Aduana’s organisation and discipline at the back.
“This is how football is. We did everything,” he said. “I will give credit to the defenders of Aduana FC. They defended gallantly, and I’m not surprised how they are on the table. Congratulations to them.”
The defeat keeps Heart of Lions third on 23 points, but they could slide further down the standings depending on weekend results across the league.
