Harry Maguire set to return before the end of season

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that captain Harry Maguire might return to action before the end of the season.

The club captain has missed his side’s last two games because of a knee injury which is not understood to be too serious with earlier reports having ruled him out of the club’s remaining games.

But speaking after the Brentford game, Rangnick said: “Harry Maguire might be available again. We have to wait and see if he can train on (Wednesday),” Rangnick said.

On the other hand, Rangnick seems to have ruled Jadon Sancho for the remainder of the season; the winger has been battling tonsillitis which has also kept him out of the last two games.

“If (he returns), then maybe in the last game. I was in contact with him this afternoon. He was in hospital until this morning so he only returned back home today. He still doesn’t feel well so, for sure, not (for Brighton),” Rangnick added.

Edinson Cavani and Fred returned to Rangnick’s squad for the 3-0 victory over Brentford, but the interim boss remains without Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba.
