Harry Kane is set to cap a sensational U-turn at Tottenham Hotspur by opening talks to sign a new deal in north London, according to reports.
Just 12 months ago, the England captain wanted out amid interest from Manchester City, desperate to win the silverware that his performances often merited. However, despite a training strike in an attempt to force the move through, he stayed put, with Pep Guardiola’s side unwilling to match Daniel Levy’s £150m transfer demands.
And, under Nuno Espirito Santo, Kane gave the impression of a sulking striker, grabbing just one Premier League goal under the former Wolves boss. However, he has since seemed to rediscover his spark under Antonio Conte, and has once again formed a brilliant partnership with Heung-min Son.

The Englishman netted 17 times, and laid on a further 9 goals for teammates this season, helping his side into 4th place and Champions League qualification in the process.
Kane to open talks over new deal
And, as per the London Evening Standard, the change in manager and upturn in fortunes in north London has left Kane ‘happy’ once more at Tottenham, with talks having even begun over a new contract, with his current one to expire in 2024.

‘The striker is waiting to discover the outcome of Conte’s crunch talks with managing director Fabio Paratici this week but, provided Spurs back the head coach as planned, Kane is thought to be happy to entertain an approach from the club when he returns for pre-season’, the report claims.
Should Spurs be backed in the proper way by their hierarchy, and be able to tie down Kane to a new deal, they could be well-placed to challenge for what they will view as long-overdue silverware.
