Harrison Afful’s Charlotte FC career ends as club declines contract renewal

Harrison Afful’s tenure with Charlotte FC has come to a conclusion as the club confirmed that his contract will not be renewed for the 2024 season.

In an official statement released on Monday, October 30, 2023, the Ghana international was listed among six players whose contract options were not extended.

The other players on the list included McKinze Gaines, Chris Hegardt, Pablo Sisniega, Jan Sobocinski, and Adrian Zendejas.

Afful, known for his versatility as a wing-back, made 15 league appearances for the North Carolina team during this season, marking his second year with the club.

The 36 year old has played nine seasons in Major League Soccer where he has amassed over 200 league appearances in all competitions.
