Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui, believes Achraf Hakimi has a strong case for winning the Ballon d’Or.
In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Regragui expressed his confidence in Hakimi’s abilities, stating that he should win the African Ballon d’Or and is also in contention for the main award.
Hakimi’s recent performances, including in the final of the Champions League, where he crowned a successful season by scoring, have strengthened his case for the prestigious award.
Regragui acknowledged that Hakimi faces challenges due to his position as a right-back and being African, but he believes Hakimi’s talent and current form make him a strong contender.
“For me, he’s in the top three, and not even third,” Regragui said in a pre match conference.
With the club World Cup on the horizon, Regragui thinks everything is possible for Hakimi.
