Haissem Hassan is still reluctant to join the Saudi Pro League this summer despite receiving a substantial financial offer, according to reports in Spain.
The Real Oviedo winger has yet to be convinced by the proposal and would prefer to continue his career in Europe. He is waiting to see whether offers arrive from more competitive leagues before making a final decision on his future.
Spanish newspaper La Nueva Espana reported that the Saudi approach is the most serious offer received by Hassan so far. It also meets Real Oviedo’s financial expectations, giving the club a potential solution to an important issue ahead of the new season.
However, Hassan returned to Real Oviedo training after completing his involvement in the 2026 World Cup and remains opposed to moving to Saudi Arabia at this stage. The proposed agreement would reportedly include a long-term contract and a salary significantly higher than anything he could earn in Spain.
Real Oviedo regard Hassan’s sale as a major priority because the income generated by the transfer would allow the club to increase its wage limit under La Liga regulations. That additional room would then help them complete further signings before the campaign begins.
The club also intends to use the proceeds from Hassan’s transfer to help fund a move for Argentine defender Kevin Lomonaco, one of their leading targets during the current summer window. Any attempt to complete that deal remains dependent on the winger’s future being settled.
Hassan’s performances at the 2026 World Cup, particularly in the match against Argentina, have increased his market value considerably. Despite that rise, Real Oviedo do not expect to receive the full €12m release clause included in his contract.
Negotiations are continuing while the club awaits Hassan’s final response to the Saudi offer. His preference for remaining in Europe means the player’s decision will determine whether Real Oviedo can proceed with their wider transfer plans.
For now, the financial package on offer from Saudi Arabia has not persuaded Hassan to change his position. The winger appears prepared to wait for opportunities from European competitions before committing to his next club, while Real Oviedo face the prospect of balancing his sporting importance with the financial benefits of a sale.
