Grejohn Kyei on target as Clermont Foot stun PSG with turnaround win

Black Stars hopeful Grejohn Kyei scored in Clermont Foot 63’s stunning Ligue 1 season finale win away to champions PSG at Stade Parc des Princes on Saturday.

It was an eventful night for the 27-year-old French-born striker as he led the visitors’ attack from the get-go. During his time in the game, he had a goal ruled out by VAR, missed a penalty, and finally scored before being substituted in the 84th minute.

Kyei thought he had opened the scoring in the 5th minute when he arrived late in the box to finish off a great move by Clermont Foot. VAR ruled that the goal was void due to a handball.

In the 16th minute, Sergio Ramos headed PSG ahead. A short corner sequence resulted in Vitinha putting in a cross that was firmly placed into the far corner by the departing veteran defender.

Black Stars right-back Alidu Seidu fouled Hacraf Hakimi in the box, and Kylian Mbappe converted the penalty to make it 2-0 in the 21st minute.

But three minutes later, Johan Gastien pounced on a stray Marco Verratti pass, sliding to the ball and directing it past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma into the net to make it 2-1.

Clermont got a great chance to level after Zaire-Emery was penalised when a diagonal ball into the box strikes his arm in the PSG area. But Kyei stepped up and pulled the penalty wide in the 37th minute.

The leveller eventually arrived for the visitors with the last kick of the first half through Mehdi Zeffane after Donnarumma dropped the ball.

Kyei finally got on the scoresheet with the game-winning goal for Clermont Foot in the 63rd minute. The visitors neatly work the ball down the left and Rashani whips in a delicious cross, for which an alert Kyei applied the finishing touch.

This season, Grejohn Kyei – who declared setting sight on a Ghana national team place earlier this week – appeared in 37 games, scoring 10 goals and assisting three others.

‘Black Stars is my next challenge’ – Grejohn Kyei declares
