Great Olympics coach Sulley Adamu says his side is fully prepared to face Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2025 Democracy Cup, stressing that his players are ready to fight for both bragging rights and the symbolic value of the competition.

The Division One side will take on their city rivals at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, with the winner set to represent Ghana in the DC Africa Cup in the United States.

“I know the Democracy Cup is a tough game for us as Great Olympics. We respect Hearts as opponents, and the rivalry is also tough for us, but I know my boys are very ready for this particular game,” Adamu told the media.

He admitted that while the clash serves as pre-season preparation, his squad is determined to seize the opportunity.
“It’s a pre-season game, and we are preparing our team towards the league. But the players have put a lot in, and I know they are going to give us a good game. We are coming all out to make sure we lift the trophy.”

Adamu also acknowledged Hearts of Oak’s recent recruitment but insisted his team is not intimidated.
“We know they’ve done some good scouting. I’ve been observing them from afar, and they have a good squad. But same here ; I’ve made sure I also have a good squad. We are really going to give them a good game and take the trophy from them,” he added.

The Democracy Cup, launched by Parliament last year to highlight Ghana’s democratic gains, was won by Asante Kotoko after defeating Hearts of Oak in the inaugural edition.
