The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kuntuo Jewu Soale I, has paid glowing tribute to Ghana’s U15 boys and girls teams for their showing at the WAFU Schools Football Championship in Burkina Faso.
The young national sides earned admiration for their commitment and competitiveness against strong opposition from across the sub-region.
Particular praise was reserved for the U15 Girls, who entered the tournament as reigning continental champions and fought their way to a respectable second-place finish.
To honour the teams’ efforts, the Yagbonwura welcomed the players and their technical handlers to a special reception at his palace in Damango.
The gathering was marked by warmth and celebration, as the traditional ruler hosted them to dinner in recognition of their achievements.
During his address, the Gonja Overlord applauded the players’ discipline and dedication, describing their performance as a source of national pride.
