The Ghana Association of Southampton (GHASSO) welcomed the Black Queens with a lively and emotional reception on Sunday as the team arrived to wrap up preparations for Tuesday’s international friendly against England.

The squad was hosted at the Royal Palace restaurant shortly after landing, where players and technical staff were treated to an array of traditional Ghanaian dishes prepared by the local Ghanaian community. The gathering quickly transformed into a colourful cultural celebration filled with music, dancing, and heartfelt interactions that created a warm, home-like atmosphere far from home.

Players mingled with supporters, posed for photos, and shared in the excitement of the upcoming fixture. Team officials described the welcome as timely and energising, saying it has given the side a major morale lift heading into the final stretch of preparations.

GHASSO’s leadership; President Sadat Panford, Former President Ken Konduah, Secretary Cynthia Norman, Organiser Richard Amdoh, PRO Thomas Acheampong, Treasurer Mrs Joyce Bekoe, Welfare Officer Mrs Mercy Afari, Cancer Project Coordinator Mrs Felicity Mills, and Patrons Dr Obed Bekoe and Pastor Africanus Annan were all present to lead the reception.

The Black Queens will train at St. Mary’s Stadium on Monday before facing the Lionesses on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
