Ghana’s star referee Daniel Nii Laryea has been selected to officiate at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, making him the only Ghanaian official on the 73-man list.
Laryea, a graduate of Accra Academy, has a huge reputation on the continent, having handled matches in the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, and Ghana’s biggest games, including Hearts of Oak vs Asante Kotoko.
With his experience as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in previous tournaments, Laryea is expected to handle some of the biggest games at the competition in Morocco.
Other officials named for the tournament include Mustapha Ghorbal (Algeria), Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo (DR Congo), and Redouane Jiyed (Morocco).

The 2025 AFCON kicks off on December 21 and ends on January 18, 2026, with Laryea set to make his mark on the tournament.
