France-based Ghana international Alexander Djiku has been disciplined by the Professional Football League (LFP) Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of violating sports betting rules.
This regulation stipulates that “participants in competitions organized by the FFF or the LFP (in particular players, coaches, managers of professional football clubs) have a general ban on betting, online or in physical networks, on all football competitions, whether domestic or foreign.
Around fifty players and twenty coaches received sanctions (up to four suspension games) for conduct that date back to the 2020/21 season. These sanctions take effect on Tuesday, December 20.
But the RC Strasbourg defender received a lesser punishment – a one-match suspension.
As a result, Djiku will not be able to participate in his side’s Ligue 1 resumption match against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, December 28 at the Parc des Princes.
Alexander Djiku participated in the recently-ended Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup with Ghana.
