Ghanaian youngster Christopher Baah Bonsu was shown a straight red card when his outfit, KRC Genk locked horns with Westerlo in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.

Baah Bonsu was handed a starting role as his side played a 1-1 draw at Westerlo in matchday 30 of the top-flight at the Het Kuipje.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the much-anticipated clash.

The highly-rated Ghanaian winger could not last the entire duration of the match after going into the book of the centre referee following a bad challenge.

Baah Bonsu was given a straight red card in the 71st minute mark, his third in the ongoing campaign.

He picked up his first red card at the end beginning of the season against Anderlecht in September 2023 before receiving his second against Westerlo in October 2023.

This means the Ghanaian youngster has received a back to back red card against Westerlo in the Belgian top-flight this season.

Despite being reduced to ten man, Genk fought to ensure they secure a point at Westerlo. The home team opened the scoring through Ravil Tagir, eight minutes after Baah Bonsu was sent off.

Four minutes to full time, the visitors pulled parity through Bryan Heynen as the game ended in a scoring draw.

The 19-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist in 26 games so far in the Belgian top-flight league.
