Ghanaian striker Omar Bogle nets debut goal as Newport County draw against Sutton in EFL League Two

Ghanaian striker Omar Bogle scored a debut goal for Newport County in their 1-1 draw against Sutton in the English Football League Two over the weekend.

The 29-year-old lasted for 81 minutes before being replaced by Lewis Collins as both sides shared the points on the opening day of the 2022/23 season.

County keeper Nick Townsend saved Robert Milsom’s free-kick before Sutton went ahead through Omar Bugiel after Will Randall’s effort came back off the crossbar.

Omar Bogle levelled with a bullet header from Mickey Demetriou’s throw.

Bogle shot agonisingly wide of the left upright and then forced a smart save by keeper Jack Rose. He and Robbie Willmott had opportunities for Newport in the second half but Sutton held on to secure a point.

Bogle joined Newport County on a two year deal an undisclosed fee in June.
