Ghanaian forward Nathaniel Opoku undergoes successful surgery, faces lengthy spell on the sidelines

Ghanaian forward Nathaniel Opoku is facing a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining a double leg fracture last Tuesday while in action for OH Leuven.

Opoku, who is on loan from English Championship club Leicester City picked up a serious injury when his outfit played out a 1-1 draw against Westerlo.

The Ghanaian youngster came on as a late substitute, but could not finish the game due to an injury setback.

He was stretchered off just six minutes later after his introduction and was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

However, the Ghanaian forward has underwent a successful surgery and is expected to spent time on the sidelines to fully recover.

“Thanx everyone for the messages. I would like to especially thank the doctors at AZ Herentals Hospital and the medical staff at Leuven for the successful surgery and for helping me on to the path to recovery. Looking forward to being back on the pitch stronger than ever,” Opoku wrote on Instagram following the surgery.

The 22-year-old has made 21 appearances across competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist.

His loan deal is expected to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.
