Ghanaian forward Ansgar Knauff confident of victory ahead of Frankfurt’s Europa League semi-final clash against West Ham – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

German-born Ghanaian attacker Ansgar Knauff is convinced Eintracht Frankfurt can pull a surprise against West Ham in England.

The German Bundesliga side travel to London for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.

The 20-year-old, who joined Frankfurt in January from Dortmund, has been an integral member of the team, and scored in the quarter final victory over Barcelona.

“I am firmly convinced that we will beat West Ham with our fans and the spirit that prevails here in the city and in the club,” said Knauff confidently before the game.

Knauff born in Gottingen to a Ghanaian father and a German mother has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt, netting two goals.

“It really happened very quickly and stably,” sporting director Markus Krösche praised the Ghanaian’s quick adaptation at the club. “He really listens and accepts things,” he added as quoted by Sky Sports Germany.

Manager Oliver Glasner has also sang praises of the Germany U21 star, who he says fits well in their system.

“We knew that he would fit in well with us,” said coach Oliver Glasner. “He’s strong and attacks the spaces behind the chain.

“The way he takes the ball and then hits it was great,” he added.

Ansgar Knauff is expected to start against West Ham tonight in London.
