Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu nets a brace and assists another in Rio Ave stunning win against Porto –

Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu produced a man of the match performance when Rio Ave stunned FC Porto in a remarkable fashion in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Yakubu scored twice and also set up another to ensure Rio Ave see off the Portuguese champions with a 3-1 victory on Sunday.

The 23-year-old striker was up and running in the 22nd minute having opened the scoring of the match with a fine strike.

Yakubu latched on to a precise pass into the box by Fabio Ronaldo to release a low effort which ended up in the middle of the net to out the hosts ahead in the game.

The Ghanaian player was the producer for the second goal for Rio Ave after he set up Pedro Amaral with a sweet pass in the 33rd minute.

Yakubu scored again two minutes to the break after he jumped highest to head home a perfect lofted pass from Amaral which found Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa helpless.

Porto reduced the deficit in stoppage time when Spanish forward Toni Martinez got the consolation goal.

Former Black Stars attacker Emmanuel Boateng replaced Yakubu in the 71st minute to mark his second debut for Rio Ave since his return to the club.

After four games into the 2022-23 campaign, Yakubu has now scored three goals in four matches in the Portuguese top division.
