Ghana U20 midfielder Hayford Adu-Boahen has secured a permanent transfer to Israeli side FC Ashdod after leaving Central Region outfit Cheetah FC.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder earned the move following an impressive trial, which convinced the club to hand him a five-year contract.
His switch marks a major step in his young career as he looks to test himself in a more competitive environment abroad.
Adu-Boahen is expected to use the Israeli top-flight as a springboard to refine his game and attract interest from Europe’s bigger leagues.
On the international stage, he featured in Ghana’s squad at last year’s U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt under coach Desmond Ofei.
Ghana’s campaign ended before the semi-final phase, but the midfielder gained valuable exposure at the tournament.
At club level, Adu-Boahen was a key figure for Cheetah FC, serving as captain for two seasons in the Central Regional Division Two League.
