Ghana to host 2025 WAFU ZONE A AND B U-20 tournament

Ghana has been officially selected to host the 2025 U‑20 West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A and B Championships, a landmark event set to unite all 16 West African nations in a two‑week celebration of youth football from June 15 to 30, 2025 .

Over the fortnight, eight U‑20 national teams from Zone A will clash with eight counterparts from Zone B in pursuit of regional silverware. These young talents will compete fiercely in group stages and knockout rounds, emphasizing both the unity of West African football and a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of African stars .

Preparations are already underway in key host cities, with matches earmarked for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex . These venues were chosen for their modern facilities and capacity to handle large crowds, reflecting Ghana’s readiness to stage high‑profile youth tournaments.

Ghana’s hosting credentials are further bolstered by its successful organization of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Ghana 2025 in April, which saw under‑15 teams from across the continent descend on the University of Ghana’s Legon Sports Stadium . That event underscored Accra’s logistical strengths and the local appetite for youth‑level football.

The association views the tournament as an opportunity not only to showcase emerging talent but also to stimulate regional tourism, hospitality, and related industries.

As the countdown to June begins, Ghana stands poised to deliver a memorable celebration of West African unity and sporting excellence, with scouts, media, and supporters from across the region preparing to converge on Kumasi and beyond for what promises to be one of the continent’s premier youth football spectacles .
